The notion of artistic inspiration—of catching lightning in a bottle, or a sudden epiphany seemingly out of nowhere—feels mysterious but is rooted in the very nature of our universe. Through recombination, iteration, and concatenation, our material world is constantly surprising us with unexpected and unpredictable phenomena. In this short but wide-ranging talk, Mark Sniadecki will explore connections between art-making, biological evolution, and the concept of emergence.
